Maiya Lea is a Queer Black painter and mixed media artist. Their work explores themes of race and gender expression as it relates to their self identity through painting familial and self portraits that touch on moments from childhood to the present. Through their recent mural work Maiya has been able to share images of Black and Brown bodies rooted in themes of Liberation and Joy.
