In celebration of mother’s day, Mamá Papaya presents three films about migrant motherhood, the revelations of our dreams, and the tender vibrant lives of immigrants in Mni Sota Makoce.

The screening presents the short films of Tahiel Jimenez Medina and includes the in-progress premiere of Soñar No Cuesta Nada, a sci-fi short film about a migrant mother in New York City connecting to her distant son through a device of dreams. 



EL SUEÑO DE MI ABUELA (6 min, Experimental Narrative, USA / Colombia)

An immigrant grandmother’s dream foretells the disappearance of her granddaughter.


LENGUA (16 min, Narrative, USA / Colombia) 

A haunting anxiety troubles Daniel, a recently arrived migrant, before his first day of school in the United States. 


SOÑAR NO CUESTA NADA (10 min, Narrative, USA / Colombia) 

A migrant mother longs to see her distant son, even if only in a dream.
