My name is Katelyn Clemons and I am a visual artist and designer. My work explores various themes surrounding Black American identity, self evolution and black creative expression. I am interested in motifs of nature, personal memory, musicality and movement as a way of showcasing the life and energy I want to capture in my work. Through the lens of black femininity colored by my childhood growing up in and around Chicago, I like to experiment with different mediums like pastels, collage and gouache. Somewhat separately,  I love to utilize graphic design as a practical way to help others solve visual problems. My graphic design work, though somewhat disconnected from my artwork, has deepened my love for type and hand lettering, which is a consistent theme in everything I create. Ideally, one day i'll be able to combine my love for art and design into one creative practice.
