As the Twin Cities’ creative ecosystem continues to expand, Queer and Trans artists are beginning to be recognized for their innovations in music and performance mediums. Yet Black Trans women in particular are under-resourced and under-platformed, while their cultural contributions have been taken out of context and exploited.
What would it look like to engage equitably with Black Trans women, beyond the consumption of their work? How can we sustain an arts ecosystem that acknowledges, compensates and values its most underrepresented members?
Join us at Public Functionary #144 on Saturday, January 27th from 6-9p for a conversation panel centering the experiences of local Black Trans women vocalists, performers, producers and engineers. Masks are strongly encouraged and will be provided, along with a catered meal.
