During the 2020 uprisings, Oromo youth took to the streets from “Minnesota” to “Ethiopia.” Connected through the internet, they demanded a liberated Oromia. Joined by archivists Ayantu Tibeso and Ego Ahaiwe Sowinski, Minnesota based artist Agartuu Inor will discuss the monuments she constructs to honor the martyrs of these protest movements. Taking place within the exhibition I Promise to Burn Forever, the conversation will explore afro-indigenous memory-keeping and the desires for clarity and solidarity in our parallel liberation movements.
