Nailah

(she/her)

Nailah Ali is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose abstract, non-representational works examine emotional memory, vulnerability, and the evolving complexities of Black womanhood. Through layered compositions, intuitive mark-making, and expressive color, she creates immersive visual landscapes that navigate the tension between softness and survival, freedom and responsibility, and inner child and adult self.

Working across painting and design, Ali’s practice emerges as an act of resistance against digital overstimulation and emotional disconnection. Her work prioritizes presence, humanity, and emotional honesty, using abstraction as a vehicle for introspection and liberation.

Based in Minnesota, Ali is the founder of The Coping Nook, her art practice, and her solo design studio, Coping Creative. Her work has been exhibited in community-centered exhibitions and cultural events throughout the Twin Cities.
