Kemunto is a Minneapolis-based visual artist and graphic designer of Kenyan and Lao heritage. Her practice centers on the nuances of multiethnic identity, drawing from the oral histories carried through her family’s stories—across lands, languages, and generations—to explore the intersections that shape her lived experience. She works with the textures of memory and identity, translating these inherited fragments into visual and lasting form. She has collaborated with creators and organizations across the Twin Cities to bring brand identities and stories to life. She is now turning her practice inward, visualizing her own narrative and examining what it means to create work that reflects, reclaims, and honors her personal history.
