An evening of Dancing with Friends on March, 10th 2023 from 7-11pm at Public Functionary (1500 Jackson Street, NE, #144 Minneapolis). 

Dance floors are fertile ground for unbounded self-expression, cradled in arms of community. They are sites of embodied resistance and celebratory reclamation. They can spark an empathy kindled from the recognition of joy in another. That’s what my series, Dancing with Friends is about - the radical power of joy and togetherness.   
I began this series in 2022, large-scale textile collages featuring the beautiful likenesses of some of my closest friends. Now, with grant support from @forecastpublicart , the project is expanding and I want you to be a part of making it.

All-vinyl Disco/House/Afrobeats will be spinning by DJ Jacques!

Throughout the evening, Drew Arrieta @itsdrw and Ryan Stopera @ryan_stopera will be photographing and filming, and their work will serve as reference material for my next collection of textile collages (to be exhibited in 2024).
